Vacancies: Professor/Reader, Senior Lecturer, Lecturer I and Lecturer II
General Information
Structures on Ground: State-of-the-art and fully
air-conditioned buildings for all eight Colleges; hostel buildings for
all students, accommodation for academic and non-academic staff; modem
cafeteria which provides local, English and continental dishes; ABUAD
Bottled Water Plant; ABUAD Bakery; ABUAD Printing Press; Tuck Shops;
Laundry etc.
Teaching Facilities on Ground: Fully furnished air conditioned
laboratories for Chemistry, Physics, Biology and other researches. Fully
furnished air conditioned modern virtual and physical Libraries;
LexisNexis E- Law Library, ICT Laboratory, E-learning platform for all
classrooms; V-sat to enable internet connectivity for all Colleges and

College of Social and Management Sciences
Position: Professor/Reader
(Department of Media and Communication Studies Media and Communication Studies)
Qualifications and Other Requirements
- Ph.D with at least 10 years post qualification experience for
Professorship and 8 years post-qualification experience for Readership
in University teaching and research in the relevant fields.
- Candidates must have outstanding record of scholarly publications
along with evidence of considerable teaching and research, demonstrable
capacity for academic leadership, as well as proficiency in ICT.
- Candidates are expected to be registered with the various recognized professional bodies, as applicable.
Position: Senior Lecturer
(Department of Media and Communication Studies Media and Communication Studies)
Qualifications and Other Requirements
- Ph.D with at least 6 years post-qualification cognate experience
supported with a suitable number of publications and ICT proficiency.
Position: Lecturer I
(Department of Media and Communication Studies Media and Communication Studies)
Qualifications and Other Requirements
- Ph.D with at least 4 years teaching and research experience along with a suitable number of publications and ICT proficiency.
Position: Reader
(Department of Political Science and International Studies)
Qualifications and Other Requirements
- Ph.D with at least 10 years post qualification experience for
Readership in University teaching and research in the relevant fields.

Position: Lecturer II
(Department of Political Science and International Studies)
Qualifications and Other Requirements
- A candidate to be appointed as lecturer II shall normally possess a
PhD, in addition to possessing at least a Second Class Honors (Upper
Division) Degree in the relevant field.
- A candidate who has an M.Phil, qualification may be appointed as
Lecturer II provided the candidate has a substantial number of
publications as well as adequate teaching experience in the University.
Salary Package
Salary and allowances which are personal and negotiable are higher
than Federal Government-consolidated unitary salary structure. Salary
increment is based on productivity and contribution to the development
of the University. The university also offers additional beneficial
packages to staff.
Retirement and Pension Scheme.
The University operates a contributory Pension Fund as enacted by the
Act of the National Assembly. It is mandatory for all staff to take
part in the contributory pension scheme. The University shall pay 7 ½
percent of the staff’s monthly basic salary to the pension fund while
the staff shall pay 7 ½ percent towards the fund.
A staff shall not be hindered by the University from drawing from the pension scheme.

Head of Department or Dean/Provost of the applicant
Requirements:
- Candidates applying for any of the positions are advised to request
their referees to forward three (3) confidential reports on them
directly to the Registrar. The reports should be duly marked
“Confidential” in a sealed envelope.
